I’m honoured to share that I’ve been officially confirmed as an accredited scientific delegate to the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference, from 9–13 June in Nice, France.
The UN Ocean Conference is a high-level diplomatic event, co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, aimed at accelerating action to implement Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14: the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas, and marine resources. It brings together governments, the UN system, intergovernmental organisations, academics, Indigenous Peoples, civil society, and the private sector to coordinate international responses to global marine challenges.
Alongside colleagues at CEDMAR/USP, I will engage with diplomats, policymakers, and scientific delegates to contribute a legal academic perspective on marine biodiversity governance, deep-sea regulation, and the frameworks shaping our ocean future.
I’m proud to participate in this important event and to bring this experience into conversation with my work at Maastricht University.
Special thanks to the Science Committee (WeCie) at Maastricht University Faculty of Law for supporting this work.
