Guest Speaker at the European Law Students’ Association (Maastricht, 2025)

I recently had the opportunity to speak at the opening of the annual event organised by the ELSA / ELSA Maastricht Alumni Network at Maastricht University Faculty of Law, where we discussed the paths, challenges, and possibilities of building an academic career in Europe.

What made this invitation truly special is that it came from my students. Being invited by them — as someone they see as part of their academic journey — meant a great deal to me. It reminded me how much I learn from them, every day.

Their thoughtfulness, dedication, and curiosity are what keep me grounded and motivated in academic life. I’m genuinely grateful to be part of their journey, and this experience will stay with me for a long time.

In fact, my current research was inspired by the questions and conversations I’ve had with students — their perspectives are central in shaping the way I think and work.

A special thank you to Petra-Francesca Simpalean and Marcel Mikołaj Jazgar, the event organisers.
