I won the New Voices prize at the EJLS/EUI!

My paper, “Two Kinds of Systemic Consistency in International Law,” has been published today in the European Journal of Legal Studies (European University Institute).

Furthermore, it has been selected as the winner of the 2022-2023 “New Voices” prize!

In the words of the jury:

“‘Two Kinds of Systemic Consistency in International Law’ revitalizes the classic debate on whether international law is a system. It does so by rationally reconstructing the concept of ‘consistency’ in international law. The writing is refreshingly clear, concise and – perhaps no surprise – consistent.”

I am deeply grateful for this recognition, as this paper summarizes some of the findings of my PhD research at Maastricht University Faculty of Law & Universidade de São Paulo under the supervision of Prof Jaap Hage, Prof Wagner Menezes, and Dr Antonia Waltermann.

I want to express my sincere thanks to my supervisors and the wonderful colleagues at the Department of Foundations of Law, the Globalization and Law Network Maastricht, and Núcleo de Estudos em Tribunais Internacionais – NETI/USP for their support.
